The Royal School of Artillery (RSA) delivers training to all Royal Artillery subsequent trade training (STT). Based at Larkhill, near Salisbury, the School provides a mixture of classroom and practical training facilities on the state-of-the-art campus, delivering training to 4,500 trainees each year.
You will become part of a team working with military and civil service colleagues, delivering and supporting training in the Joint Fires Section.
The primary job role is to support the simulation element on each of the courses in the area responsible for directing close support artillery onto targets (Virtual Battlespace Simulation (VBS)). The different courses receive theory lessons prior to conducting mission practice in the simulators. The role requires the successful applicant is required to have a knowledge of the application of Jt Fires as well as the fire discipline required to direct fires. After adequate simulation time, they will conduct live fire ranges to test knowledge and application. Courses cover personnel in rank from Lance Bombardier to Major.
This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.On completion of a period of training and supervision;
Run the VBS application within the Joint Fires Branch and administrate the Joint Fires system.
Provide management and maintenance of the suite of simulators in use within Joint Fires Branch.
Be thoroughly conversant in all Joint Fires principles and procedures.
Explore novel ways of improving training within the confines of the system.
Manage, prepare and produce new scenarios to facilitate training at the RSA.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
The M&S Analysts duties include, but are not limited to, developing, planning, coordinating, and executing modeling and simulations as an integral part of sustainment-focused experiments and exercises. Assists in experiment and exercise scenario development and, as a result of this involvement, recommends the appropriate models and/or simulations to support Sustainment Battle Lab events to meet event objectives to provide both quantitative data and analysis.

Basic operation and knowledge of designated simulation systems or components of the Joint Land Component Constructive Training Capability-Entity Resolution Federation and/or follow-on systems.
